Pauline`s secondment

April 10, 2017

At Halarose, we’ve recently been pleased to start hosting customers on short-term secondments at our offices. We believe it is a great opportunity for our customers to explore more about the way Halarose operates and make an impact on how our products and services are developed in the future.  It is a great way to strengthen the existing partnerships with our customers and we were delighted to have our first secondee, Pauline Salkeld from North East Lincolnshire, with us during the week of the 20th March.

“North East Lincolnshire Council have no planned elections for 2017 (being a Unitary authority and it being county elections) – so it was an ideal opportunity to gain more knowledge around Eros and to see how things are dealt with from a different perspective.”, says Pauline.

“I spent most of my time with the support team, answering queries on the telephone from people like myself, which was very enlightening - it’s not just us who ring Halarose to be reassured, by a helpful friendly voice, that we are following the right procedure/process.  Also, I helped with distributing and answering support emails, giving appropriate advice and sharing knowledge in return.  I had various meetings with the development team discussing future enhancements to Eros, giving a customer’s viewpoint.  It was interesting to see some of these developments and enhancements recommended by customers turned into reality.

I now have a greater understanding of Eros and also what happens when we, as customers, contact the support team; in particular how things are dealt with by the support team and also how the development side of things are perfected and brought through from ideas to fully working enhancements.

What a wonderful, friendly team!  It was a pleasure to be welcomed by everyone (including the daily sandwich man), including some familiar faces from User Group Meetings but also lots of new faces from the development, technical and testing teams.  The effort that is put in by everyone at Halarose to make Eros a truly amazing product for us, as administrators, to use is incredible.  Long may it continue!

What a generous bunch as well - while there on the Friday, everyone came into the office wearing their pyjamas for Red Nose Day! I had trouble taking conversations and meetings seriously as everyone was sitting around in their pyjamas, dressing gowns and slippers! Such a great and fun way to raise awareness and charitable contributions.

It was a short and sweet visit, to fit in with other commitments, but well worth it and I would recommend it to anyone who can fit a secondment into their busy schedule.

Hoping to return during the second part of the year around canvass time.”

We are pleased that Pauline found this visit useful and had a good time. We really appreciate the help and feedback offered as well as the interesting presentation on North East Lincolnshire’s election arrangements given by Pauline at our Lunch and Learn. A huge ‘thank-you’ to Pauline for coming to stay with us!

This week, we’re equally delighted to be welcoming Jeevan Bhachu from the London Borough of Hounslow and the following week we’re hosting Guy Hoffelner from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
